As well as being home to many regular groups the Centre is available for hire. It has four separate rooms accommodating groups of up to 75 people or 150 using the whole Centre. It makes a fine venue for meetings, conferences, parties and wedding receptions The Centre is a converted Victorian house which lies on the South-West of Sheffield, set in its own grounds. The large fully fitted Kitchen has a new stove ready for use by you or your caterer. The Patio adds to the capacity of the building, and is an ideal place for pre-dinner drinks. There are good sized lawns to the front and rear. All meeting rooms have facilities ready for presentations using a screen. |
West Leas was built by Sir John Bingham in the late nineteenth century as his
family house. The house comprised generous drawing rooms and a top lit billiard
room at ground level with large bedrooms on the first floor and servants'
quarters on the floor above. There was a stable block and large gardens.
In the 1920s the house was given to the church by the Bingham family, when it became St John's Church Vicarage. In the late 70s it was realised that the house was too large to be practical as a vicarage, and also extensive renovation was required. It was bought by the Parish and the conversion to the Ranmoor Parish Centre started in 1982. Every attempt was made to preserve the building's outstanding features, particularly the external architectural details and the fine internal joinery and decorative ceiling. |
